Who Else Is You? How to reduce your risk of becoming an identity theft victim

Kids Program

Kids are vulnerable everyday. They go to Chat rooms, online games, use IMs, email and cell phones. Everyone of these may provide a stranger a way to get your child's personal information.

Learn how to be safe.

A 30 minute PowerPoint presentation helps kids understand what personal information is and how to keep it secret.

" The Power to Be Me" Kids Information Safety Awareness Series now available!

bulletThe Beginning Steps. Teaching Children Online Safety. Ages 10 & Under
bulletWhat is my Personal Information? Ages 11-14
bulletReady to Meet the World. Reducing Your Risk of Identity Theft & Fraud. Ages 15 +

It's your responsibility to give your children the power to understand what their personal information is and how to protect that information.

Student IDs, passwords, cell phones, internet safety, online school assignments, contests, job applications and resumes are all areas students have little experience in.

Student Seminars help them understand what their personal information is, what information they should or should not give it out and why.

Kids Personal Information Safety Book Series will be available spring of 2006!

Cyberbullies

A recent nationwide survey of children and pre-teens by i-Safe found that

57% of kids in grades 4-8 said someone had said hurtful or angry things to them online, 13% "quite often"

53% admitted to saying mean or hurtful things to others, 7% "quite often"

35% had been threatened online, 5% "quite often"

42% had been bullied online, 5% "quite often"

58% had not told their parents or another adult about receiving mean or hurtful comments.

Why is this important? It affects the lives of your children. Intimidation is a way to get children to respond to a situation they would normally not become involved it.
Know who your children are talking with. Ask them if the receive mean, hurtful or threatening messages.
